sweetness everywhere...

such a week. our appreciation to all of our friends and customers overfloweth.  we are so fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful people.

just in case you missed it, we had not just one but two designing celebrities in the house on saturday...vickie eapen of spun sugar quilts and a surprise visit by rebecca silbaugh of ruby blue quilting studio.  how exciting for us and all gathered around.

vickie not only autographed the page with her pattern in the new and delightful book, fresh fabric treats, she also gave us a demonstration of paper piecing.  late breaking update...see that adorable little bag...the one with the bright green zipper...if you hop on over to the moda bake shop you will find a tutorial to make your own...compliments of vickie.

it is always fascinating to watch a new technique or even if it's not new, picking up little pointers from those more experienced.  such as...tiny little needles make for tiny little stitches.  btw...that quilt draped on the table...the one made with me & my sister...that's the real thing.

vickie was so gracious to pose for pics with our customers, velta and paula...

...and with the chief fabric organizer and the birthday girl. thank you everyone. we are off to a great beginning into year two. we are more excited than ever.

ohio encounters...

two states. four letters. that was sarah's observation.

so we are all the way out in utah and i hear "there's sarah." i turn around and it is michele merin...a friend from ohio.

how fun is that. michele publishes a book called fiber and fabric mania. it's a travel guide to shops across the country. check it out...we are even included. thanks for the nice comments michele. we sincerely appreciate it.
and since we were on the subject of ohio...

we headed over to the moda bake shop booth.

on display was a quilt from ohio. northeast ohio to be more specific. it was designed by rebecca silbaugh of ruby blue quilting studio.  her mom owns a very charming shop, cottonpickers, about twenty miles east of ours, in the town of chardon. here comes some trivia...i worked in chardon while pregnant with sarah. i was eating lunch at the bass lake inn when i realized i was in labor. if i hadn't sped off then, sarah might have been born in chardon:)  anywho...beth was so nice to call us when we opened to welcome us to the wonderful world of quilt shops. then we met rebecca and discovered she is just as sweet and designs fresh and fun patterns.

here is one more shot for rebecca of charmed living casaba making it's public debut a long way from home in salt lake city, utah. this pattern will soon be joining the others on our "ruby blue" wall.

p.s. don't you love how she added her initials in one block. very clever idea.

it's halloween week

we have been having lots of fun stitching up for halloween in the shop. i thought i would try a pattern a just recently discovered with haunted mansion by sanae for moda.

the pattern is charmed living topper by rebecca of ruby blue quilting studio. i love how it came out with this fabric collection. it will make a festive addition to the front window.
