two is better than one...
have you driven by the shop lately? if not, we have a little surprise...
our sweet southern belle has brought in a second dress for us to display. for this one she chose the deep red poinsettia print from basicgreys' jovial collection. then around the bottom she took a panel from kate spain's twelve days of christmas and created a border. very clever this bonnie gal is. then around the middle she has used a square print from ready, set, snow by me and my sister. i just love them both.
this red dress is also available on bonnie's etsy site. remember though, it is an ooak (one of a kind) so when it is sold there are no more.

sunday sweetness...
this weeks sweetness comes courtesy of a sweet southern belle. bonnie recently moved from georgia to be closer to her grandkids. she found our shop the very week we opened and we are so delighted she did, for she brings us adorable treasures such as this...
to display in our front window. she has taken bits of twelve days of christmas and flurry by kate spain along with ready, set, snow by me and my sister all for moda to create this ooak (one of a kind) fashion. it is available for sale on bonnie's etsy shop, bonbonoriginals.
oh and speaking of snow...let's give bonnie a round of applause for braving our first official snowfall of the year this weekend. i guess rain, sleet, snow or hail will not keep a good stitcher away from the fabric shop:)

domestic bliss
alright, i'll admit it. domestic. bliss. never would i have thought of putting those two words together. yet now that i see this...
...it's perfect in every way. domestic bliss arrived as somewhat of a surprise. as shop owners, sarah and i usually get to see future collections already printed on fabric. with this one, it was only on paper. like a color copy from the office supply store. sometimes i refuse to order that way. yet i wanted to have designer liz scott represented in our store, so we went ahead with it. and i'm so happy we did. we love it!!! as with all precuts, when they're gone, they're gone. so don't wait long.

sunday sweetness...
today's sweetness is inspired by two bunnies who hopped a very long way to arrive in our house...
to read more about their journey hop on over to sarah's blog. this is our current fig tree corner. i was first drawn to joanna figueroa when her collection mill house inn was introduced. it presented as such a calming group of fabric. shortly after we committed to opening our shop, i knew we would one day have a gathering of fig tree. and a sweet sight it is.
i've had the pleasure of dealing with so many creative souls to put this display together...
strawberry fields quilt on door frame by carly of carlene westberg designs

apron by dianne of dianne designer aprons
whimsy snuggle quilt on floor pole by janeen of jlquilts

warm & welcoming...
what a wonderful day we had at the wildwood quilt show...
such a warm & welcoming day in so many ways. the sun was shinning. the venue was a pleasant place to exhibit and our booth location was just perfect. lunch was delicious and the desserts were grand. it was great to see so many friends gathered in one place and to meet new ones too.
sarah and i would like to thank the wildwood quilt guild for including us in their 22nd annual show, for their hard work, their friendly and helpful gestures, and for displaying and sharing so many beautiful and inspiring creations.

wildwood quilt show...
please join us at the...
our booth is in front of the stage in the main room. there are also ten other vendors participating. i had the pleasure of seeing the exhibit today and there are many quilts worth your visit. hope to see you on sunday in mentor.
a driving hint: the best route from the south is to take I-90 east to route 615. turn left at the top of the exit and continue on 615 going north, also known as munson road. you will go under route 2 which has much construction therefore why i recommend I-90. once you pass mentor high school, look for the signs to the mentor senior center. it will be well marked.

featuring flora...
our newest collection to arrive is by lauren + jessi jung...
they are a modern day mother/daughter team. flora is their third collection. sarah and i first saw it at spring market last may. i had a hunch i liked it, but i wasn't completely convinced. i did know i loved the finished quilt hanging in the moda booth. it was a buzzing with bumble bees.
on their blog they describe it like this...as the drawings began to come alive… we noticed that a number of them… began to give off this sort of English Tea Room / Victorian Wallpaper sort of vibe… with a somewhat retro flair (though very subtle). interesting description.
i've been cutting and folding flora all afternoon and i've decidied i like it. i really, really like it. take a look at their blog. it is extremely enjoyable to view. i am anxious to see what you all do with flora.

hometown...
by sweetwater. oh how i love thee...
actually i love everything by this talented mother/daughter trio. a while back they talked a little about hometown on their blog. included on a few bolts are the names of more than 1,000 towns submitted by their loyal followers and readers. chances are you could make something with this fabric and send it to anyone of your friends and they would be able to find a town they onced lived in.
lisa, karla and susan also have a wonderful new book out named...sweetwater's simple home. we have a few copies for your purchase. it includes several wonderful projects for things around your home.
we first introduced you to our newest creature...mr. fox created by ohsweetlulu last week. he is surrounded by quilt creations by crystal at frivolous necessity, and sunnysidedesigns2. the tumbler topper by peanutbutter14, bags by queenbeequilting and njayedesigns. the adorable dress and tie are hand stitched by twosistersoriginals.

ruby in reverse...
ruby is in the house!!! i simply never tire of the fabrics brought to us by the super darling mother daughter team of bonnie & camille. some days, i pretend i am just like them. the only problem, i can't decide who i would rather be, mother bonnie or daughter camille. i guess i will just have to settle for enjoying their talents.
and speaking of talents...along with ruby is this sweet creation appropriately named in reverse. just another one of the perfectly engineered designs by crystal over at frivolous necessity. the paper pattern is in stock. if you are not in the area, hop on over to crystal's etsy shop to purchase your pdf version which she will deliver directly to your email account.

a sneaky peak upstairs...
there was a vision...we just did not know it at the time. i suppose that is what faith is all about. a few years ago, the space on the second floor behind our medical billing company became available. we did not really need the space...but just like fabric...need was low on the list for getting to "yes."
the former tenant owned a hair salon. before she moved in, a renovation was completed that included installing extra water lines for the shampoo bowls. those water lines did provide us the opportunity to create a kitchenette, complete with the cutest little dishwasher, for all of us to use...
as you can see, i've already found a great place to set up an ironing board too:)
it also provided a place to move sarah's futon and television for the days when she was sick and unable to go to school, which was often back then...
over the years, i moved in with a desk, a computer and printer. and we've slowly been moving sewing machines and fabric projects up there too. and with that combination it became apparent and fitting that this become the new home of Sarah's Sewcial Lounge. a true lounge of sorts, with machines and cutting tables, large creative boards and design walls.
it is going to take a few weeks. we had to ask one of our billing employees to move into the front room, which she graciously did last week...
next i need to empty out the file drawers. this should be an easy task. however, the contents are as priceless as can be...twenty plus years worth of girl scout memories. and a resume or two from my twenty plus year career in the non-profit world. stay tuned for our progress. it's sure to be exciting...

the state fair...
have you been following the moda country fair blog hop? i've loved seeing all the pictures and hearing about how fairs have been such a part of so many lives. as i was reading all month long, it brought back memories for me of one of my favorite trips with my girl scouts...
i will never forgot that experience at the ohio state fair. good times had by all. such an amazing week full of miracles. for which i'm so thankful. if you'd like to see more pics of our trip to the fair, click on over to sarah's blog.
the year was 2001. the ohio state fair has a large parade each day where one girl scout troop was selected to carry the flags. to be selected you had to apply in march, which we did. and then sarah got sick. really sick. by june, the doctors had sent us home with very little hope of her survival. i truthfully wasn't sure she would make it to her birthday, let alone the fair. but sarah and her higher power had other plans.
and there she is, walking in the parade carrying the gold and brown flag representing brownie girl scouts. she had a smile plastered from ear to ear.
i had never seen her so alive. and having so much fun. later in the evening, we had gotten caught in a torrential down pour. the girls didn't care. i think it even made it more fun. we always had a wheelchair with us, just in case sarah needed it, but she rarely used it.
the next day was just for fun. rides and fair food. sarah loved the french fries and i'm a sucker for fresh squeezed lemonade and elephant ears.
even i got in on the ride fun. although sarah tells me i screamed louder than she did. and she's probably correct on that.
